Minimal Makeup Challenge

I love makeup, I love the way I can see my face as a canvas and just get excited about new eyeshadows, contours, foundations and highlighters. I love treating myself to a new lipstick or a fancy mascara every now and again. The power of makeup is truly something else.

For the month of July I have started a minimal makeup challenge for a few reasons. The first being that I spend way too much time on my face in the morning and for someone who starts work before 8am that becomes a real issue. I’ve also experienced problematic skin for years now and I’m starting to wonder whether using less product will not only allow my skin to breathe but give the grey and pink scars a chance to heal some more.

My biggest fear is that I will not feel confident without the amount of make-up I am used to. On weekends, I’m really not bothered but at work I like to feel as if I am presenting myself as well as I possibly can. Dark circles do not scream ‘professional’ to me. That’s why I’m looking forward to seeing how I can work well with less.

I’ve started by using a light coverage foundation and a few dabs of concealer with a little powder to set. The only other steps I am doing is giving my brows a bit of definition with wax and putting a few strokes of mascara on my lashes.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes. Hopefully, all goes well as I also have a big trip coming up and I don’t want to be lugging my whole makeup kit around Europe for 2 months!

I’d love to hear if you’ve challenged yourself in a similar way. Let me know!

Yours, M
